General Equine Care

As part of the boarding program horses are wormed on an 8-week schedule and the cost of the product is billed to the owner.  Routine farrier and veterinarian appointments are managed and scheduled through the farm (boarders are welcome to use any provider but the farm cannot be responsible for scheduling and managing these appointments).  Non-routine or emergency veterinary appointments can also be scheduled and handled through the farm but a handling fee is required.  All billing for farrier and veterinary care are handled directly between the service provider and the horse’s owner.

(Please refer to the boarding contract for details on general farm policies as well as the handling of worming, veterinary and farrier care.)

Additional services include but are not limited to:

  • Riding instruction on the flat or over fences
  • Exercise or training rides
  • Grooming services (e.g., clipping, bathing, mane pulling etc.)
  • Expanded basic care (e.g., daily hoof picking, leg wraps etc.)
  • After-care as prescribed by the veterinarian (e.g., wound care, application of eye ointments, cold hosing, poultice or sweat w/bandaging, administering oral and IM medications etc.)
